The work speaks for itself, but here’s some context about the author (Yours Truly).
I’m Kent Leininger, author of Blan Fou and administrator of this site. The novel is drawn from my personal memories, notes, and reports collected while in Haiti during 1991 – 1992. The history of Haiti and America is complex and so is this work.
My intent is to testify on behalf of the Haitians who taught and protected me, while surviving themselves. No character in the novel is based on an actual person, except public figures. Events are drawn from memory, but have been reordered, re-imagined, and relocated. All locations outside Port-au-Prince have been changed or invented.
